Ten of our members joined the Association of Hawai‘i Archivists for their annual meeting on the beautiful island of Kaua'i over Presidentsʻ Day weekend. We began our journey at Grove Farm Museum and the old sugar mill locomotive where we were all treated to fun, nostalgic ride on the old train with all the bells and whistles, and a lovely tour of the luxurious home of the Wilcox family. We then visited the Kaua'i Historical Society where we got a peek at some of their unique collections and the work they are doing. On the second day, we visited the National Tropical Botanical Gardens on Kaua'iʻs South shore. This was a real treat for many of us as we were secluded from the hustle and bustle of the real world and immersed in an environment that takes you back 100 hundred years. This was a great trip for our students as many of them walked away with a new friends, networks, and a better understanding of the archive community in Hawai'i.
