Right after the Spring 2011 semester ended, six of our members jumped on plane and headed over to Lāna'i to facilitate a preservation workshop and service project at the Lāna'i Heritage and Cultural Center. On the first day. we had Debbie Dunn, an LIS adjunct faculty who teaches preservation and conservation come down and talk story with the center's staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders about various preservation techniques to care for textiles. On the second day, our members paired up with the center's staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders to rehouse the center's collection of Lāna'i Plantation Field Surveys. We also had time to play and sightsee. As you can see from the pictures, we definitely got around and saw some of Lāna'i's most treasured historic sites.
