What to Look For:

• “Archival” = no real meaning for consumer products.
• “Acid-free” = means that the product was not acidic at the time it left the manufacturer. Some “acid-free” papers can become acidic.
• “Lignin-free” = use whenever possible.

Choose an album format that is expandable, like a 3-ring binder. 

Album pages:

• Always acid and lignin free
• Heavy/thick stock that will support the weight of added material

AVOID: Self-adhesive (“magnetic”) albums and pages

Adhesives:

• Photocorners (mylar)
• UHU stick
• PVA
• Wheat starch paste

AVOID: Solvent-based adhesives (such as rubber cement) Pressure-sensitive tape (such as scotch tape, masking tape, duck tape, etc.), metal clips and pins, rubber bands
